Ten Post-Secondary Bursaries Awarded

The Jewish Community Foundation of Calgary recently awarded ten students post-secondary bursaries supporting them on their educational journey. A number of families with endowment funds at the foundation worked together to disperse $12,300. This year’s recipients are attending schools in Canada and the United States in programs ranging from religious studies to medical school.

As one recipient says, “Generosity like yours allows me to pursue an education that would not be otherwise possible.”

Bursary applications are accepted annually from March 1st to April 30th and the application is available on-line at www.jcfc.ca. The annual bursary program began in…. Bursaries are granted from a number of our endowment funds for students pursuing post-secondary education. Awards may be granted on the basis of need and/or merit, including academic merit, community leadership and future life plans. In past years awards varied from $180 – $2,500 with most grants ranging from $250 to $1,000.
Family funds that contributed to the 2012 bursary program this year include Jeff & Wendy Kohn Community Fund, Zeisler Family Endowment Fund, Nate & Lily Horodezky Endowment Fund, The Expatriate Fund, Rose Hallis Student Travel Bursary Fund, Kaganov Family Fund, and the Ann & Ralph Kalef Endowment Fund.
