Years ago, Ted Riback travelled to communities throughout Alberta and Saskatchewan to raise funds to establish a permanent Jewish summer camp on the shores of Pine Lake. Today the Riback family continues to recognize the commitment of their father and grand-father and of those communities by helping young people attend Camp BB Riback.
The income from this endowment fund, established by Donna and Faith Riback in honour of their parents, provides scholarships that enable children from communities outside of Edmonton and Calgary to attend a session at Camp BB Riback. Through this vehicle, the legacy of Ted and Betty Riback will continue to build self-esteem and community in perpetuity.
Here’s what the 2012 recipient had to say:
“What an experience! Camp BB is like a second home for me and the people there are like my family. I have found friends at camp that I’m sure I’ll have forever.”
Every child deserves a wonderful summer camp experience. Camp BB Riback takes great pride in creating a loving, welcoming environment for all of our campers. Every young person who stays at Camp BB Riback can be assured they will have an amazing summer in an atmosphere of tolerance, safety, inclusiveness and, of course, FUN!
Would you like to join us for a summer of adventure and a lifetime of memories, friendships, traditions and skills? If you live outside of Calgary and Edmonton, you may qualify for a scholarship from the Ted and Betty Riback Camp Bursary Fund at the Jewish Community Foundation of Calgary.
